About the Role

The Autonomous Haulage Australia (AHA) program is currently in a Definition Phase Study (DPS). During DPS a key deliverable of the People & Communities team is to review the existing training approach and materials and commence development of fit for training programs including training materials that would support implementation of the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) by role and Asset if approved.

There are two Training specialist roles reporting into the AHA Program Training Lead one based in Perth and the other in Brisbane and will require travel and potential site work. 

It is highly desirable that the successful candidates will have experience in the design, development and facilitation of training of Caterpillar Minestar Command and the supporting operational business processes.

This role will be involved in the design and development of training materials for Production, Maintenance, Control roles and support teams and Train the Trainer programs.

In addition to the development of training programs this role will work closely with the AHA Operational Readiness team to develop proposed site specific training plans that would support the execution of the Program.

The successful candidates’ dependant on the approval to implement the AHA Program will have the opportunity to be considered to join the Operational Readiness team to deliver training as part of the execution phase.

About You

Skills & Experience:

Understanding of adult learning principles and frameworks and the integration of these into the design of training programs and supporting material to facilitate best practise learning experiences for participants

Demonstrated competency in the Caterpillar Minestar autonomous system, the delivery of instructor led, on the job and assessment processes to ensure competency of training participants

Knowledge of (or ability to acquire) BHP business process and how they support autonomous operations

An ability to train and coach learners with varying levels of experience with Technology.

Experience in influencing a range stakeholders through education, support and an ability to clearly communicate at the appropriate level to ensure understanding.

A strong commitment to continuous improvement with a focus on improving training materials and delivery methodologies to improve the experience and efficiency of the training approach


Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is essential. Tertiary qualifications in Training, Education, Learning and Development, Psychology or a related discipline would be well regarded however not essential.
