The Prominent Hill copper-gold mine in South Australia produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate traded on the open market and is comprised of Ankata and Malu underground mines.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer, with an Electrical Engineering background desirable, to join our Engineering team to continually improve the performance and capability of the Prominent Hill fixed plant equipment.

This permanent position is based at Prominent Hill and reports to the Superintendent – Planning & Scheduling and as a key member of the Engineering team, your ability to effectively coordinate and liaise with staff across multiple departments is essential.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

Adequately control and monitor site Control Systems and take on technical stewardship of the site’s OT systems, including Rockwell PlantPAx DCS, ensuring that electrical engineering design is safe, effective and reliable for the business needs

Supporting the Engineering team in their “ownership” of plant functional areas while delivering improvement opportunities

Managing and coordinating external service providers or consultants as required

Coordinating project execution activities with other functions, Maintenance and Production Sub-functions.

Applicant Requirements

Hold a tertiary qualification in Electrical/Control Systems Engineering and have a solid understanding of Australian electrical standards.

Have proven experience as expert technical support in process control systems, preferably for Rockwell Plant PAx experience and within a continuously operating industrial processing.

Be able promote collaboration and build and maintain strong relationships with multi-disciplined teams to provide engineering support focussing on improvements to equipment performance, capability, reliability, planning and execution purposes.

Be proficient in setting and maintaining safety standards in an operational environment with contracted parties.

Be able to regularly meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities and actively promote a culture of continuous improvement around reliability, maintenance, safety and cost.
