A temporary position has become available to fill the Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Chief Pilot/Aviation Coordinator‘s for a period of 12 months. Reporting to the Group Manager, Technical Services, GCAA,  your primary responsibilities are to  execute and manage the strategy for Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems (RPAS) operations across GCAA and GAH along with overseeing the conformance to CASA requirements for the GCAA aviation facilities (site air strips and helipads). You will provide leadership and management to facilitate the safe and productive use of RPAS across Glencore’s industrial assets in Australia and the Aviation Co-ordinator responsibilities within GCAA. 

In this highly rewarding position, you will be primarily focused on overseeing that operations are conducted in compliance with the Civil Aviation Act supported by the appropriate systems and operational documents. You will be focussed on service delivery and will be the company lead for remote piloted operations. You will be involved in delivering projects and business strategies for business process management and improvement in alignment with operational needs.

To be successful in this role your will have a drive to succeed and an ability to cope with demanding and dynamic environments as well as excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).  You will also possess a procedural focus to execute flying activities in accordance with CASA regulations and company policies, manuals and procedures. You will have an innovative mind set and willingness to work to solve technological problems relevant to the role. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work accurately, unsupervised and prioritise work as required. You will have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and equivalents.

You will need to have qualifications to allow for nomination and certification by the Australian Civil Aviation Authority (CASA) as a Chief Remote Pilot. Relevant qualifications preferable in Aviation, IT/Systems Administration or IT Security Disciplines are also highly regarded. You are required to maintain a Drivers Licence.

The normal place of work will be negotiated with successful applicant. Regular work related travel is required as part of this role. This opportunity is open to existing Glencore employees only.
