Reporting to the Director – Operations, PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals is looking for a Deputy Director – Social Performance to strategically lead the Social Performance business function on site including the execution of our 5-year sustainable development plan. This is a pivotal role that drives the social investment agenda of the business to generate both positive impacts for the communities surrounding the Gosowong operation, as well as to the business itself.
You’ll oversee a diverse portfolio including social performance (comms, government relations, external affairs, corporate social responsibility), security and mine closure. You will have strong support from your team, the broader PT NHM leadership team as well as corporate head office, based in Melbourne.
This role works from the Gosowong site on a roster of 20 days on/10 days off.
You will be an experienced professional, with a demonstrable track record delivering a long-term programme across the social performance, CSR, government relations and/or community development spectrum. As a minimum, we’re looking for 15 years’ experience with a mining, oil and gas or heavy industry MNC supported by a degree in journalism, communications, law, sustainable development or similar. Previous people leadership experience is essential.
You’ll be a strategic thinker, able to bring insight and make recommendations across your portfolio of responsibilities. You’ll bring international best practice to the long-term programme of initiatives as well as a compliance mind-set not just with current and new legislation but also internal policy and process.

Located on the Indonesian island of Halmahera, Gosowong is a fly in fly out operation with comfortably furnished on-site accommodation. Employees have access to our medical centre, shop, a range of sporting facilities and evening bar.
