Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Senior Engineer: Mechanical Projects to join their Mining Department at Granny Smith Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Projects, you will be responsible for the coordination of mechanical engineering related projects and maintenance work for all mining facilities and associated infrastructure to meet current and anticipated demand safely within budget.

This role is offered on an 4 days on, 5 days off / 8 days on, 4 days off Fly in Fly out roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities include:

Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times

Business Partner (Contractor) management

Manage the day to day activities of the projects team inclusive of contractors in a cost effective and efficient manner. Ensure awareness of performance targets and provide access to the necessary tools to achieve these targets. Align these activities with Company objectives, including EHS Management standards.

Assist in achieving mining and production targets through the completion of mechanical projects. Demonstrate knowledge in interpreting & understanding of plans, drawings and schedules. Systematically coordinating allotted resources to achieve planned outcomes.

Contribute to the technical excellence of projects by providing expert mechanical engineering designs that demonstrate fitness for purpose and cost effectiveness. 

Actively track project costs to ensure compliance to budgeted expenditure

Ensure organisational capability and a quality orientation by the utilisation of relevant reports using SAP and AMT to monitor reliability, availability and cost effectiveness of all assets under control.

Progress mechanical related projects including: construction, installation, repair, improvement, movement, decommissioning of facilities and associated infrastructures to enhance current and meet anticipated project demands. This includes the scoping of projects and managing all aspects of the EPCM of projects including actively tracking these projects to ensure timely completion.

Proactively monitor and promote safety with Business Partners and Contractor groups, including the generation of Risk Assessments

Technical report compilation.

Enhancing the capability of the business to achieve improved performance and growth by actively contributing to business and cultural improvement initiatives, encouraging team members to participate and identify barriers to goal achievement

Comply with and undertake additional / alternative responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Unit Manager: Projects

Factors to your success include;

A strong safety ethic and the ability to positively promote safety

Possess a BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Demonstrate application of continuous improvement ideas

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels

Possess a valid WA “C” Driver’s License as a minimum

Current National Police Clearance is essential

Hold a valid WA Dangerous Goods Security Card

Highly competent in Microsoft office

AutoCAD or similar experience is desirable including mining software such as Deswik
