Occupational Hygiene Technician

Mount Isa Mines is currently seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the position of Occupational Hygiene Technician. Reporting to the Senior Occupational Hygienist, you will be part of the Occupational Hygiene team contributing to the management of a diverse range of occupational hygiene initiatives in underground and open cut metalliferous mining; and processing and associated operations.

This role is residentially based in Mount Isa and will require you to work a 5/2, 4/3 roster (9-day fortnight). 

You will be responsible for:

Conducting sampling to measure and monitor worker exposure to occupational health hazards

Performing calibration and maintenance of sampling equipment

Facilitating laboratory analysis of collected samples

Working with occupational hygienists to interpret and analyse data, and recommend actions to prevent or reduce workplace exposures to harmful agents

Valid and accurate data collection and entry into Glencore data management systems

The successful candidate will have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to liaise and influence effectively across multiple levels of the workforce, management, regulatory bodies, medical and health providers

Successful completion of the AIOH Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene course is highly desirable

Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene practice and application is desirable

RSO qualifications, asbestos survey certification and / or tertiary qualifications in an associated discipline will be highly regarded
