POSITION SUMMARY

Quality Coordinator / Welding Inspector - Immediate fulltime opportunity within a dynamic and successful business on an exciting mining construction project at Olympic Dam, FIFO from major capital cities with opportunities to transition onto other Downer projects following completion.

Olympic Dam is a multi-mineral underground mine (ore body, uranium oxide, copper, gold and silver) located in South Australia, 550 km NNW of Adelaide. The mine is owned and operated by BHP. 

Summary of Works:

Due to end of serviceable life, the existingsteel Ore Bins will be demolished and replaced by a newly designed 1000 tonne Ore Bin.

Downer's contract comprises of SMP, E&I and Civils, and includes:

Demolishing and removing the old Bins and footings;

Complete civil works for the new bin; and

Site assembly and installation of the off-site fabricated bin.

You will need to be a skilled, experienced, enthusiastic and safety conscious individual who is looking for their next challenge.

Multi-Mineral Ore Mining Construction experience

Relevant Current Licenses and Tickets

Able to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.

Key Skills, Qualifications or experience:

You must have solid Quality Coordination and Inspection experience in a similar environment.

Requirements:

Certificate 10 Welding Supervisor AS 1796

Welding qualification - CSWIP level 2, min

Protective Coatings qualification - NACE Level 2, min

Complete detailed inspections

High level of report writing skills

5+ years relevant experience

Experience developing Quality processes and procedures;

Ensuring hazard and incident forms are completed and reporting to management on any WHS issues;

Identifying and organising training as needed;

Maintaining license and competency database;

Assisting with the management of sub-contractor compliance;

The development of procedures and other quality documents;

Compiling Quality documentation and completion records;

Conducting internal audits and preparing detailed reports;

About You:

     •      Demonstrated site experience working on major engineering and/or construction projects;

     •      Strong communication skills to engage effectively with the Project Manager, subcontractors and the client with regards to all site QA/QC matters;

     •      A proven ability to develop and maintain key internal and external relationships

     •      Excellent problem solving skills

     •      High level of attention to detail – strong analytical & conceptual skills

     •      Strong written and oral skills

     •      Exposure to site based QA/QC methodologies and processes;

     •      Experience in writing SWMS;

     •      Strong Microsoft Office skills with a high attention to detail;

     •      Excellent time management skills;

     •      Ability to work autonomously and part of a team;

     •      A Zero Harm/safety champion

What We Offer

A Permanent full time position

Initially based in the Milton (Qld) office and transferring to site in Feb 2020 on a FIFO 3:1 roster

FIFO from Major Capital Cities

Shift Length – 10 to 12 hour days

Immediate start with approximate construction completion March/April 2020
