About the Role:
We are now seeking to employ an experienced Occupational Hygienist to join the team at our Koolan Island Operation for a permanent position on a 12/9 (12 Day on 9 Day off) FIFO roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.
Reporting to the Safety and Support Services Superintendent, this role supports the Department Superintendent, Manager and site leaders, across the functions of occupational health and hygiene. Specifically the role will support compliance with MGX Health Standards and the DMIRS statutory obligations associated with health and hygiene management.
You will have the ability to manage time, set priorities, plan, adapt and organise work deliverables. Working with minimal supervision and self-managing priorities, you will also have sound communication, interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and facilitation skills.

Key tasks and responsibilities may include:
Conduct and co-ordinate quarterly monitoring, and reporting accordingly.
Develop, implement, maintain and review annual Health and Hygiene risk assessments.
Create and deliver Health and Hygiene education sessions for employees.
Establish and conduct fit testing.
Provide specialist advice with regards to occupational exposure hazards and exposure levels.
Maintain monitoring equipment including calibration records.
Providing occupational Health and Hygiene advice to the site leader group.
Working with and assisting the Site Safety Advisors as requested.
Assisting other departments in developing hygiene inspection programs.
Maintaining the site Health and Hygiene Risk Register and overseeing corrective actions.
Conduct hygiene surveys of SEGs for potential hazards associated with dusts, noise, chemical, vibration, biological, illumination, ergonomic, and radiation.
Analysing data and trending results
Investigating any exposure exceedance as is appropriate.
Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene with 3+ years’ experience working in remote mining environments, in this or very similar role.
Certified Ventilation Officer and Noise Officer
Experienced in positional and personal dust sampling, noise surveys and noise dosimetry and water sampling.
Sound understanding of hygiene management processes and technologies and relevant industry standards (e.g. AIOH and ICMM).
Working knowledge of the W.A. MSIA and MSIR
Intermediate computer skills, including competence with the Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with INX InControl and Pronto highly regarded.
Valid C-class Driving Licence (manual)
Experience in identifying issues, analysing data and recommending sensible and practical improvement solutions
Audiometric Officer - desirable
Radiation Officer - desirable
Associate membership of the AIOH or ability to obtain provisional membership - desirable
