About the Role

Gold Road will be looking for an innovative, inspirational and team-minded Senior Exploration Geologist to join the Yamarna exploration effort. Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, the Senior Exploration Geologist will be responsible for undertaking planning, budgeting, supervision and execution of exploration activities, interpretation of results and reporting for multiple tenements and exploration projects, and will also be responsible for target generation and initial evaluation of potential resources.

This role is offered on a permanent basis and will be FIFO ex Perth to Yamarna working 12 hours days on an 8/6 roster.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership through supervision and mentoring of Exploration Geologists and Field Technicians;

Commitment to working safely and the promotion of safe working practices with colleagues and contractors;

Complete and take a leading role in project pipeline “Complete Target” ranking.

Project data review and evaluate exploration datasets to generate, rank and test new and existing targets with recommendations for project progression.

Development, implementation and management of QA/QC practices and procedures.

Work with the company’s tenement manager to maintain tenement compliance

Design, implement and supervise all geological work for assigned exploration projects (Aircore, RC, Diamond) and ascertain their potential to host economic gold deposits.

Continuously increase the knowledge of site geology through detailed geological interpretation and data analysis focusing on mineralisation controls on both a local and regional scale and communicate this to the team.

Complete 3D geological and mineralisation models and wireframes for all projects utilising drilling, geological, geochemical and geophysical data.

Create and validate prospect databases and ensure all data is extracted from the parent database as required and is of the highest possible quality. (e.g. logging, assay, survey, QAQC, metallurgical and density data).

Ensure that all logs generated for projects by project owners and back to back are completed (lithology, collar, metadata, etc.), validated (QA/QC) and uploaded to the database each day following procedures in order to maintain high quality data.

Liaising when required with internal and external stakeholders including landowners, native title groups and contractors.

Maintain and update records tracking drill programme progress and ensure drill metres are accurately allocated to tenements.

Produce high quality geological logging of DDH core and RC.

Ensure that all personnel comply with geological standards and data validation procedures.

Ensure compliance with legal obligations, environmental policies and procedures.

About yourself

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven leadership skills with 5+ years’ experience in mineral exploration with an emphasis on gold.

A good understanding of orogenic gold systems, and relevant early and late stage exploration techniques.

Experience working with large datasets and ability to utilise geological, litho-geochemical and geophysical data to conduct geological interpretation and develop working geological models.

Thorough understanding of QAQC procedures, drilling and sampling practices and standard gold industry laboratory analytical methods.

Proficiency with GIS and 3D modelling software (Log Chief, Leapfrog, Datamine, DataShed, MapInfo, QGIS, IoGas).

A strong background in structural geology.
