About the Role

Our Chanda Processing Plant is located near Muchea, approximately 50km north of Perth CBD. Please note this position is residential/local only. No housing or housing allowance is offered as part of the terms and conditions of employment.

The role is on a four (4) day on, four (4) day off drive in – drive out roster where you will be able to drive home every day.

Reporting to the Senior Safety Advisor, the Safety Officer will be responsible for contributing to and implementing the site Safety & Health program to ensure that we continually strive towards a workplace that is injury free and fully compliant with relevant government legislation as far as is practicable.

Duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:-

Assist in creating safe operation and ensure compliance with all applicable Safety, Health and Hygiene requirements as per Tronox policies and procedures;

Promote discussion, drive awareness and influence a positive Safety Culture and lead others in Health and Safety behaviours and programs; 

Recommend, actively participate and monitor improvements specific to SHE Management through Safety conversations, pre-starts and toolbox meetings;

Provide immediate injury management and health care and assist in subsequent injury management and return to work processes;

Inspect site safety equipment and assist to maintain site registers and documentation including emergency response plans

Assist with audits, inspections, technical reports and participate in incident investigations when required;

Assist with Risk Assessments, JHA’s, Hazobs, and HIRA’s;

Coordinate and participate in Emergency Management such as: hazard reduction management, general alerts, exercises & drills, notifications and provide technical advice where required;

Assist with health and hygiene monitoring; and mgmt. of hazardous substances and Dangerous Goods around site;

Undertake FFW monitoring and testing in accordance with the sites schedule;

Assist with management of contractors and visitors; and

Monitor site security and associated systems, via ProWatch system, building / vehicle security and perimeter checks.

About You

Proven experience in a fast paced and multi-disciplined safety role (minimum 3 years)

Occupational First Aid level qualification as a minimum (preferably Cert IV Pre-Hospital Care - Ambulance)

Knowledge of up to date WHS legislation, safety systems, processes and application of OSH ‘best practices’

Advanced computer skills (Microsoft suite, Chem Alert etc)

Valid Driver’s licence Class ‘C’ (manual)

Relevant qualifications such as Cert IV minimum in a Safety related field or pursuing Safety Professional qualification (desirable)

Relevant Mining or industrial site experience (desirable)

Incident investigation skills - ICAM (desirable)

Relevant high risk licenses (desirable)

Emergency Management or equivalent experience (desirable)

Communication

Great team player with the ability to build rapport across all levels of the business,

Excellent verbal and written communication skills & the ability to solve problems & escalate where necessary,

A strong understanding of Safety and Contractor Management,

Self-starter and good initiative,

Attention to detail,

Will confidently contribute ideas and concepts and bring them to life
