The Role

We are seeking a permanent Dewatering Technician to join our Underground Mining team based at our Prominent Hill. Reporting to the Support Services Superintendent you will be responsible for the safe and efficient function of the surface and underground dewatering and fixed infrastructure, as well as assisting mine improvement projects as directed.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this role will be to:

Conduct inspections and undertake or arrange planned and breakdown maintenance on the underground mine dewatering infrastructure, as well as primary ventilation controls, air compressors and refuge chambers

Ensure mine dewatering systems are working adequately

Assist in the establishment and implementation of safe working practices

Ensure opportunities for improvement are communicated when they are identified

Applicant Requirements:

The successful applicant will:

Require a mechanical or similar trade qualification coupled with a solid understanding of preventative and breakdown maintenance, specifically with pumping systems, ventilation systems and air compressors

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Be motivated, self-directed and self-starting, with the ability to work both autonomously and within a team

Be able to lead by example on safety and environmental issues and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed

Ideally have previous mining experience in an operational environment
