About the Role
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the technical design, implementation, optimisation, monitoring and support of the Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms and tools within Sime Darby Industrial. This position involves the selection of fit for purpose tools as well as solution development activities using Microsoft Business Intelligence and related technologies.
Key responsibilities of the Business Intelligence & Analytics Technical Specialist role are but not limited to;
Role specific deliverables
Contribute to the development of roadmaps and strategy for the implementation of Business Intelligence and analytics solutions for global Digital Platforms and BI solutions.
Design and Implementation of the technical architecture of Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms in accordance with Enterprise Architecture frameworks. This includes cloud data platforms, big data, IoT devices, and ML/AI.
Provide best practices around Business intelligence and Analytics solutions using Microsoft Azure Data Platform and other cloud vendors.
Provide advice on better or more efficient solutions that still work with architecture frameworks
Participate in the software development life-cycle (SDLC) by:
Assessing solutions technical feasibility based on accredited technology standards, best practices, Enterprise Architecture and QA principles
Lead technical design activities in tune with Enterprise Architecture & Solutions Design area.
Complying with software development standards and frameworks for the business intelligence (BI) development.
Designing and developing:
Data loading and ingestion such as stream and batch data
Data storage such as data lake, cloud data warehouse, cubes / tabular models
Data processing such as relational and non-relational data
Data presentation such as reporting and applications
Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in applications.
Optimising and continuous monitoring of solutions.
Utilise CI/CD framework, source control and deployment templates.
Delivering high quality developed applications following Testing & QA principles.
Writing, updating and maintaining technical and end-user documentation.
Share knowledge with co-workers and ensure appropriate knowledge transfer.
Demonstrate business knowledge towards different disciplines
Assist in leading the team members and assignees (virtual teams) to achieve projects goals and objectives
Other areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: Making and project driving decisions based on business needs, leading team meetings, and driving problems to resolution quickly
Day to day coordination with key project stakeholders
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
Bachelor’s degree in computer Science/ Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert – Business Intelligence
Formal project management qualification / certification (PMP, Prince 2)
Minimum of 10 years of experience developing BI solutions and performing database tuning, multi-dimensional and tabular modeling, DW design and development using Microsoft technologies including Power BI
IT projects in a corporate environment with a demonstrable and sound understanding of delivering end to end solutions.
Experience working with agile methodologies, global IT environments and enterprise data warehouse management
Strong liaison skills to engage project, technical, management and business staff
