Business Need / Purpose of Role
Site and workshop based fitting duties to assist our clients with critical equipment such as all forms of rotating equipment, Valve repair, shutdown work and assistance with rubber lining. The role also includes machining of materials & castings within close tolerances to drawings and all other duties as directed by Leading Hands and management.
Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities
Running all machines, including Horizontal Borers, Vertical Borers, Radial drills, Manual Lathes, Mills and CNC Machines
Completing repairs on critical equipment including strip and assembly, drawing amendments, machine maintenance and complex naval repairs
Completing quality and hold point documents
Inspecting own fitting work and machine shop work
Assist with on site installation, repair maintenance and test tasks as per scopes of work provided
Maintain and repair of products in accordance with the procedures detailed in the service centre quality manual, or the relevant maintenance manual
Provide runner lining and trades assistance when required
Promote ‘Weir’ brands and services throughout the territory and when on site.
Job knowledge / Other requirements
An Australian recognised trade certificate as a Mechanical Fitter
Previous experience in fitting/pump fitting in a heavy industrial environment (essential)
Experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, valves and crushing equipment would be highly regarded
A current Australian MR licence is essential as this position will require some on-site work
A forklift, dogging and rigging certifications would be highly regarded
The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
A strong personal commitment to safety and a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve customer satisfaction
