We are now seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to join our Underground Mining team based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Underground Manager and working with a team of engineers and the underground mining contractor, this role is accountable for managing a team of production engineers to maintain an adequate supply of broken ore stocks by producing drill designs and blast plans and short-term schedules to deliver the production plan.  This role is FIFO 8/6 (or variant thereof) from Perth.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

Be an active safety leader in line with the company’s values, policies and procedures.

Effectively mentor, manage and develop the team of production engineers. 

Oversee the development and implementation of drill and blast designs, monitor the outcomes and actions to improve.

Be an active leader in the production team, accountable for effectively communicating all drill and blast related plans to all stakeholders. 

Ensure all plans are completed on time and any risks are adequately communicated to all stakeholders.   

Complete stope reconciliations to monitor drill and blast performance.

Contribute to the development of weekly, monthly and quarterly mine plans.

Be a leader of the Critical Risk Controls.

The ideal candidate will possess:

A tertiary Mining Engineering Qualification.

Completion of underground experience to enable eligibility for a WA first class manager’s certificate.   

Minimum 4 years’ experience in an underground mining environment.

Experience in underground mine design software (Deswik).

Experience with electronic blasting systems (SmartShot).

Excellent communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office software.

Strong data analysis skills.

Permanent work rights in Australia.

Current “C” class drivers licence (Manual).

Hold a valid WA Dangerous Goods Security Card.

A National Police Clearance.

Existing and ongoing permanent working rights in Australia (mandatory)
