Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an Engineer: Production to join their New Holland Mining Department at Agnew Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, you will facilitate the safe and optimal extraction of gold from underground mining operations. You will be responsible for all production scheduling and drill and blast activities to meet all safety, production and cost targets driven by the short to medium term plan with a great opportunity to learn and have support from Senior Engineers across the technical services group.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and the successful applicant will be FIFO from Perth.

Key responsibilities include:

Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.

Actively identifying risks and critical items to safely achieve targets and develop strategies to ensure risk elimination/minimisation.

The development and implementation of weekly production plans in line with operational targets.

Designing stopes and subsequent drill and blast plans to minimise dilution.

Resolve drill and blast technical problems and carry out improvement projects.

Carry out underground drill and blast area inspections as required. 

On a daily basis you will be recording mine information to ensure safe and economic target delivery on a daily basis and define areas of further improvement

Reconciliation of mined plan verses actual to identify improvement areas.

Apprising the Senior Production Engineer and Underground Manager of issues that may affect safe and efficient production through frequent communication in an appropriate manner.

Enhancing the capability of the business to achieve improved performance and growth by actively contributing to business and cultural improvement initiatives, encouraging team members to participate and identify barriers to goal achievement.

Undertake and implement mine projects as directed by the Senior Production Engineer and Underground Manager.

Work closely with all members of the underground technical and operational teams to ensure goal unity through concise communication.

Key Factors to your success include;

Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering

Completion of underground practical time to satisfy requirements for a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency is highly desirable

At least 1 years’ experience and/or completion of Underground time as stated above

Preferred exposure to mining software such as Deswik
