Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an OHS Advisor to join the Sustainable Development Team at Agnew Gold Mine. This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Reporting to the Superintendent: OHS, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the operation of OHS systems and standards, in support of Gold Field’s objectives and targets

Key responsibilities will include;

Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times

Design, produce and maintain an appropriate system to capture trends and potential underlying reasons for recurring safety related issues on site, reporting and presenting these to an appropriate audience as necessary

Ensure that the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the sites hazard reporting system

Contribute to the continual improvement of safety systems (e.g. INX) to ensure that business requirements are being met and the systems are being fully utilised

Manage the review and update the process for safety related documents

Complete internal OHS audits and participate in OHS internal /external audits

Assist with the management of all Occupational Hygiene aspects of the business

Engender stakeholder confidence and protect business interests by maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in communications and ensuring sensitive information is kept secure

Contribute to optimal business performance through the review, development, implementation and maintenance of the Occupational Health and Safety management plan and conducting regular inspections to ensure consistent compliance of these within the operation

Prepare and distribute quality health information reports, bulletins and memoranda etc., using organisational style guidelines within agreed timeframes to meet business requirements

Facilitate site inductions, governance meetings and site OHS presentations to employees

Manage the site induction process and oversee that OHS training requirements are being met.

Key factors to your success include;

Minimum Diploma level qualifications in Occupational Safety & Health or closely related field

Certificate IV TAE

Formal auditor qualifications

Certification in surface ventilation

Investigation and Risk Facilitation experience

Working knowledge of either OHSAS18001 or AS4801 Safety Management Systems

Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation

Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivery of OHS services in underground mining, mineral processing environments – preferably gold would be highly regarded

Intermediate level in Microsoft Office applications
