An opportunity exists for an experienced professional to lead Iluka’s Sustainability team as the Group Manager Sustainability. Reporting directly to the General Manager – People and Sustainability, this role is accountable for framing the company’s position with respect to sustainable development, environmental, health and safety and social strategies.
We are seeking a highly motivated and engaging leader to promote sustainable development, build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and work closely with the business to enable Iluka to deliver sustainable value.
Key accountabilities include;
developing and delivering a Board approved strategy that addresses the company’s approach to sustainable development across its business with a particular focus on mitigating health, safety, environmental and social risks.
development and implementation of a common framework for all elements of sustainable development, including economic responsibility, people and governance aspects;
actively communicating Iluka’s expectations in relation to the strategy and framework for sustainable development and promoting a high level of sustainability performance across the business;
providing regular sustainability reporting to the Board and Executive including development and presentation of materials at the Executive Sustainability meeting and Board Sustainability deep dives;
overseeing the company’s response to regulatory and reporting requirements including the preparation of Iluka’s annual Sustainability Report;
monitoring business sustainability performance and working with key stakeholders to develop plans to improve performance;
leading and managing a team of professionals to deliver the strategy.
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will have;
tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science or an equivalent/related field;
proven experience in HSEC or equivalent disciplines;
experience in mining, oil & gas or heavy industry;
understanding of sustainable development and key HSEC principles, frameworks and legislation and proven experience applying them;
excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience developing positive and effective working relationships;
previous experience in managing a team, with the ability to foster team engagement and develop key skills in the team;
a keen interest in metrics and trends, with the ability to analyse data and convey key messages; and
previous experience preparing papers for Executive and Board level.
This role will be based in our Perth Office, but will require regular travel to our operational sites. We will offer the successful candidate a competitive remuneration package and support the development and progression of our employees within the business.
