We are seeking a Health, Safety & Emergency Response Advisor to join our HSE team at our Leonora Operations. We offer a supportive environment and the opportunity to work at one of the world’s deepest underground trucking mines alongside a team of dedicated mining industry professionals. You will also be welcomed as part of our award winning team Emergency Response Team.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, the successful candidate will provide Health and Safety support to the Leonora site team and our contract partners. The successful candidate must be comfortable working underground and will be working a balance 8 days on, 6 days off roster either FIFO from Perth, DIDO from Kalgoorlie or can be residential in Leonora.

Our Opportunity

Proactively lead our health and safety initiatives for site employees in their day to day activities;

Provide knowledgeable safety advice and guidance through a coaching approach to manage risk and promote outstanding safety awareness and culture;

Support the effective operation of the St Barbara Health & Safety Management system

Contribute to our internal and external reporting requirements through collection and interpretation of reliable data;

Conduct and support effective health and safety investigations when required (ICAM);

Share responsibility for the delivery of site inductions to new employees and contractors;

Identify opportunities for safety improvements including timely reporting of incidents, man-hours, frequency rates, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions; and

Contributing to effective internal and external reporting requirements, including collection and interpretation of reliable data.

About You

Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values;

A Current unencumbered Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence;

An Occupational Health and Safety qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma or Tertiary Degree); and

Experience in conducting Incident investigations (ICAM, Tap Root or similar).

Desirable

A Current Certificate IV Health Care (Ambulance);

A Certificate III Mine Emergency Response, including Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus; and

Strong computer literacy (MS Office, HSE management systems).
