Based in coastal Central Queensland, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Management Accountant with a business partner approach to join our Gladstone operations, the largest cement plant in Australia.
About the Role
This role is not just about crunching numbers - you need to be connected to the operation. Reporting to the Site Manager and a leader on the Site Management Team, you will partner with your colleagues, and coach and mentor them on financial and commercial management, building on their capabilities This includes providing sound reporting, processes and systems to enable them to safely deliver on targets. You will engage with other key stakeholders that include the CA Corporate Office located in Brisbane, working together to ensure compliance, reporting and budget deadlines are met. You will also lead a small team that provides administrative support to the site.

Key components of the role include:
Provide commercial leadership and support to the site management team to identify, evaluate and implement strategies to meet financial targets and deliver LTT's.
Preparation of month end results, providing relevant analysis and commentary that drives improvement in performance
Responsible for the production of accurate and timely forecasts, Mid Term Plan (3 year horizon) and Budget including analysis and presentation of financial outcomes. The adoption of forward looking, transparent information to ensure no surprises to management
Develop and encourage a strong cost control and budget ownership culture. Ensure budget owners clearly understand their commitments and provide them with regular monthly updates of performance against those targets
Review of site capital proposals to ensure that they are commercial justified and that they are prioritised to deliver the greatest benefit to the site. Ongoing monitoring and reporting of capital spend by project to ensure all are delivered as approved. To undertake post reviews of major capital projects to ensure benefits proposed have been delivered
Lead and report progress on the site Performance Improvement Initiatives Program. Ensure that management are regularly informed of actual achievement to date against agreed commitments.
Ensure adherence to HARP and other accounting policies and standards
Support achievement of departmental OPEX / CAPEX Budgets including reporting and adherence to Policy
Responsible for implementation of Group Finance policies on site including Inventory, Capex.
Management and development of direct reports to ensure that they are well positioned to support the business and are committed to delivering the best possible commercial outcome
To be considered for this role, you will have:
Minimum of 8 years of management accounting or cost accounting experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications with CPA or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience providing management accounting leadership in a similar role.
Substantial Management or Cost Accounting experience.
Demonstrated experience contributing to successful business improvement programs.
Demonstrated customer focus to deliver better outcomes.
Strong influencing and facilitation skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate key messaging at all levels.
Well developed problem solving and analytical skills.
Advanced Excel and ERP accounting experience
