Reporting to the Health Safety and Environmental Manager this role will ensure that the site meets its environmental compliance requirements as set by the State’s Environmental Authority body.
Key accountabilities will include;
Interpret legislation, government standards and agreements and provide informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
Minimise company risk exposure and liabilities by monitoring activities to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and licensing requirements.
Coordinate environmental approvals for MRO operations in accordance with Life of Mine requirements.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and have an active involvement in external audits as required.
Provide professional, timely environmental advice to mine site personnel as required.
Lead with any environmental incident investigation and follow up corrective actions with the respective department manager.
Manage external consultants and provision of scientific advice with respect to environmental aspects of MRO.
Manage the planning, coordination and supervision of site rehabilitation.
Coordinate the collection, preservation and dispatch of samples for environmental monitoring.
Ensure Life of Mine Environmental Plan is reviewed and updated annually, with proposed actions reported for approval.

A degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
Proven success within a similar supervisory position
Working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
Experience dealing with regulatory bodies is essential for this role
Experience in establishing, implementing and managing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and frameworks, standards, audits and systems is also required.
Competent user of MS Word and Excel
