Engineering Hydrogeologist

Golder has a new opportunity for an Engineering Hydrogeologist to join our team full-time based in Perth. You will be working on a variety of civil and mining infrastructure projects in Perth and across the wider organization. 

Key duties, responsibilities and involvements will include:

Planning and managing small to medium projects or parts of larger projects including identifying and managing risks associated with specific projects;

Leading field investigation works including liaison with subcontractors, clients and stakeholders;

Overseeing fieldwork to install groundwater monitoring wells, measure groundwater levels, carry out infiltration and hydraulic conductivity tests and collect Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS) and groundwater samples;

Analysing field data including groundwater level measurements, infiltration data, hydraulic conductivity tests to derive design parameters and groundwater quality laboratory tests;

Managing site investigation of small to large scale engineering projects including hydrogeological assessment/testing;

Carrying out groundwater seepage and dewatering analysis in 2D and 3D using computer modelling software;

Preparing design groundwater level assessments based on collected data and historical monitoring information and review work produced by others;

Coordinating and organising field investigation work including liaison with subcontractors, clients and stakeholders

Preparing dewatering management plans and ASS management plans for civil engineering construction works;

Providing technical leadership to project teams and junior staff;

Providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high priority safety hazards

Participating in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior geotechnical engineers;

Building client relationships through regular contact with existing and new clients;

Preparing proposals including determining methodology and compilation of cost estimations and high quality technical reports; and

Providing support in relation to client liaison, project management and delivery.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with primary skills and experience in one or more of the following areas geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, geology, hydrogeology or related areas.  Professional chartered status preferred;

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills;

Strong written and oral communication skills as well as well-developed interpersonal skills;

Ability to mentor and train junior engineers;

Proven record of independent work and ability to work effectively within a team environment;

Demonstrated project management and financial control;

Valid manual driver’s license;
