About The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a self-motivated and experienced Principal Advisor – Remediation to join Iluka’s Strategic Development and Closure team, based in the Perth office. The successful person will provide expert guidance and technical leadership in the investigation and management of contaminated sites across Australia.
Reporting directly to the Manager Environmental Regulations, the main responsibilities of this role include:
ensuring that potential contaminated sites are investigated, remediated and validated in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements;
providing leadership and expert advice to all teams involved in the management of contaminated sites;
maintaining a consolidated schedule for all contaminated site management activities, and reporting progress against these schedules on a regular basis;
influencing operating sites to minimise new contamination, in particular through the effective management of process wastes;
developing cost and functionally effective strategies for limiting both new contamination and the impact of existing contamination;
integrating contaminated sites management requirements into site rehabilitation plans; and
leading or assisting the development of plans for effective management of process wastes.

To be successful for this role, you will have:
relevant tertiary qualifications;
proven experience in managing land contamination studies;
the capability to deliver Contaminated Site Investigation projects to a timeframe and budget;
excellent stakeholder engagement abilities;
excellent analytical and the ability to problem solve; and
strong interpersonal skills.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Relevant professional certification such as:
Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) certification scheme:
Certified Environmental Practitioner – Site Contamination (CEnvP – SC);
Experience in undertaking option analysis and communicating recommendations/decisions.
Familiarity with Mineral Sands mining and processing and potential contaminated land related risks
Experience in preparing and participating in stakeholder and community engagement activities.
Experience in radiation, hydrogeology or environmental approvals.
