About the Role:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, UG, this role works on a back to back roster and carries out the statutory duties and responsibility of the Underground Manager in the absence of the Mining Manager. The Mining Superintendent will also have an opportunity to be involved in cutting the portal for the new underground project which will be a critical project for the growth of our Southern Cross Operations.
This role will be responsible for liaising with the mine operations teams and other departments to meet all safety, cost and production targets and ensuring all mine planning activities are completed in a timely manner. For the right candidate there may also be potential take a step up to be the Acting Mining Manager for the existing project during initial phases while both operations are running.
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Mining Engineering or equivalent, with a First Class Mine Managers certificate. You need to have a demonstrated track record of expertise in managing technical and operational personal on a mine site, with 7 to 10 years of mining engineering experience, which will include mine planning and scheduling. Strong leadership, sound communication and supervisory skills with a strong commitment to the highest safety standards are essential to your success in this critical role.

Superior leadership skills with the ability to support and mentor team members
Be adept in providing an innovative approach to solving complex issues
Strong commercial acumen
2 + years of Alternate UGM experience
Competent user of software (preferably Deswik or Datamine), for planning, scheduling, stope design, mine design and drill and blast
Project management experience
Contractor management experience
