We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mining Engineer to be located out of our Kunwarara mine.
Reporting to the Mine & Maintenance Manager, and leading a team of 3 staff, this role is responsible for the leadership of all site mining activities and the development and implementation of robust mine plans to optimise development, extraction and rehabilitation activities in line with statutory and business requirements for the Magnesia business.
Key responsibilities include;
Prioritise Safety as the 1st expectation of all employees through leadership and personal actions
Incidents, near misses and hazards reported within required timeframes
All incident investigations completed within timeframes
Leading the mining operations to ensure safe, timely and efficient mining and stockpiling of ore, overburden/waste, subsoil and topsoil for rehabilitation activities.
Monitoring and evaluating mining operations, providing advice and direction on how to improve productivity and mine yield.
Advising on strategies for achieving minimal processing, ore blending for grade control and synchronising of ore types with product requirements.
Initiating and participating in continuous improvement projects.
Maintaining electronic and other filing systems for mine planning design and construction.
Lead all mine planning activities to produce and develop mining and rehabilitation schedules, analysing compliance to plans and providing timely and accurate reports on key performance indicators for mine operations.
Assisting in optimisation of the Life of Mine Plan through application of robust mining engineering design and strategic consideration.
Ensuring all design work maximises the economic potential of the ore-body.
Conduct mine planning activities in accordance with statutory, regulatory and business requirements to ensure environmental compliance is maintained.
Ensuring that operations are provided with an appropriate level of technical mine planning.
Assisting in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and cost control as required.
Leading statutory mine and rehabilitation plan submissions including Estimated Rehabilitation Cost (ERC) and annual reporting requirements such as mining statistical returns, technical reporting and royalty estimates required for government submission.
Provision of technical expertise to assess and develop mineral resources and to plan, operate and remediate mining sites.
Provision of technical expertise to develop and optimise the mine planning and mine engineering function.
Ensuring development and mine infrastructure designs are practical and cost effective.
Examining mining methods and equipment to improve performance.
Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant government departments, industry organisations, contracting and supply businesses to ensure legal and statutory compliance.
The successful candidate should possess;
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior Mine Engineering role
Demonstrated experience of providing leadership to an open cut mining operation
Familiar with best practice, safety and environment management processes
Proven experience with mine planning, scheduling, mine design and contract management
Have a working knowledge of financial modeling and project evaluation methods
Strong working knowledge of at least one Mine Design software package, e.g. Datamine, Surpac or MineSight
Previous exposure to Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Excellent knowledge of Queensland mining legislation and regulations.

Approved SSE or proven experience/qualifications to obtain
