Golding seeks a Specialist Mining Surveyor to be based on site at Baralaba coal mine. Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Baralaba project through survey coverage and specialist advice, including certifying mine plans and performing the work of ‘Chief Remote Pilot’ for Golding as per legislative requirements.
This role will operate on an 5/2 roster. Flights from Brisbane, camp accommodation and meals will be provided during the working week.
Key Task Types
Provide advice to Baralaba project survey staff to support effective survey control in accordance with the site excavation and dump plans;
Prepare survey reports and plans in accordance with site Production Plan requirements;
Prepare annual statutory mine plans in accordance with the relevant site procedures;
Certify and submit annual statutory mine plans in accordance with Section 67 (6) of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999;
Conduct the of work of Chief Pilot for Remote Piloted Aircraft (RPA’s) within Golding, including liaising with regulatory authority (CASA) and other relevant bodies regarding their operations;
Recommend and assist in the development (and improvement where required) of appropriate systems of work relating to the use of RPA’s in Golding;
Advise your Manager and registered users in Golding of any changes to requirements for the operation of RPA’s;
Update the survey equipment register and organise the calibration of survey equipment as per the GMS requirements such that all equipment being used is always in calibration;
Provide recommendations to your Manager on improving hardware, software and systems for mining surveying, including use of RPA’s;
Provide technical input into SHE investigations (including survey services) as required by your Manager;
Fulfil the Mining Surveyor obligations as set out in your letter of appointment and in accordance with the Baralaba Management Structure, such that Golding legislative requirements are met; and
Where required by your Manager, lead and or provide technical input into business improvement projects, particularly survey or technology based.
Formal Surveying Qualifications;
Demonstrated proficiency in surveying skills;
Demonstrated understanding of mining processes and production surveying requirements;
Sound social process skills and the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships;
Demonstrated strong drive, energy and work efficiency;
Vulcan and I-Site experience highly regarded.
