With its flagship project located in the Goldfields region near Southern Cross in Western Australia the company holds a tenement package in excess of 1,400km2 with significant exploration potential and a gold processing facility. To support our upcoming projects, future growth and required approvals we are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Project Environmental Advisor to fill this senior level position within our Environmental Department.
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the role will provide advice with respect to all environmental, sustainability, technical and compliance matters.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Coordinate the preparation and submission of regulatory approvals for Southern Cross Operations projects
Coordinate the development and implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS)
Review and provide advice to operational departments of compliance aspects
Undertake reviews of compliance and monitoring data
Undertake all site internal and external environmental reporting, including statutory compliance reporting within required timeframes
Assist in the development and management of annual operational, capital and rehabilitation budgets and expenditure
Assist with the leading and management of consultants and contractors
5 or more years relevant experience in mining industry in environmental field
Sound knowledge of and experience obtaining statutory environmental approvals (such as Mining Proposals, Native Vegetation Clearing Permits, Works Approvals, Mine Closure Plans etc.), able to provide competent advice on these requirements
Demonstrated planning, analytical, report writing and communication skills
Technical knowledge of environmental issues in mining, resource development and exploration activities
The ideal candidate will also possess:
Tertiary qualification in environmental science or related discipline
Knowledge of GIS systems (ArcGIS) and computer literacy with Microsoft Office programs
Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Authority approvals processes
Experience in developing scope of works for contractors
Ability to work to plans, programs and timelines
Current C Class Drivers Licence
