About the Role

As our next Training Specialist reporting to the Training Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining, developing and continuously improving training methods.  This role will focus strongly on compliance to ensure that all personnel, including employees, labour hire personnel and subcontractors, have sufficient skills and competencies to undertake their work safely and efficiently in accordance with the Safety and Health Management System.  

Some of your duties will include:

Lead, assist and mentor Crew Trainer Assessors to ensure they achieve the expected training outcomes via:

Full training and training supervision

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

Site Operational Licences

Identify opportunities for improvement with a focus on proficiency-based training outcomes

Manage and maintain our sites Thiess Simulator

Ensure only qualified personnel perform tasks requiring authorisation and that equipment is used in accordance with its design parameters and correct operating techniques

Conducting all training in accordance with:

The site training plan

Legislative requirements

The training needs analysis, as directed by the training coordinator

Adapt training style to changing operational situations while maintaining consistent work methods across the site

Facilitate the site Induction Program

Location and Roster

The Lake Vermont Coal Mine is situated in Dysart, Central Queensland

8 days on 6 days off roster with full camp facilities provided

About you

Certificate IV Trainer Assessor, or equivalent

Experience as a Trainer Assessor in an operational mining environment

Experience with the operation of heavy equipment (Dump truck, Watercart, Grader, Dozer, Loader, Excavator)

Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks efficiently

Proficient in MS Office software and basic administration tasks

Commitment to the highest safety, community and environmental standards is essential

Knowledge of nationally recognised core competency packages, and

A strong understanding of training systems
