NSW Government'S $32 Billion Renewable Energy Plan Expected To Give Boost To Steel Industry

The New South Wales Government is looking to increase steel production in New South Wales as part of a transition to renewable energy infrastructure.

The move stems from a $32 billion renewable energy plan to transition away from coal-fired power to hydro, wind and solar.

The government also announced a Manufacturing Renewables Taskforce to "create local jobs and support local industry".

In detailing the plan, Energy Minister Matt Kean suggested the government will look at contracting arrangements to, "explore ways to give NSW manufacturers a competitive advantage in emerging 'green' supply industries".
