Adani Faces Heated Opposition With Activists Taken Into Custody

Anti-coal activists allegedly assaulted an employee of a contractor at Adani Australia’s rail construction site north of Clermont in Queensland.

The incident happened in the presence of other employees, and saw the Queensland Police Service (QPS) taking the activists into custody yesterday.

Charges have been laid in relation to the event, but Adani is waiting for confirmation as to the specific charges, according to its media statement.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our employees and contractors at all times,” an Adani Mining spokesperson said.
