More than 200 anti-climate change protesters gathered in Perth CBD on Wednesday outside a major resources industry conference, signalling anger at state support for the fossil fuel industry and demanding an audience with Premier Mark McGowan.

Inside the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, heavy-hitters including BHP chief executive-elect Mike Henry, Chevron Australia managing director Al Williams, and Woodside chief executive Peter Coleman were assembled for the Resources Technology Showcase, organised by Seven West Media.

A group of about 100 university students and adults from student unions and guilds, other workers' unions, Extinction Rebellion WA and XR Grandparents, gathered outside from 8am.
