Mine Safety Inspectors To Assess Kalgoorlie Goldmine Damaged By Earthquake

Mine safety inspectors will assess the damage to a deep underground mine near Australia's goldmining capital of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, following a 3.3 magnitude earthquake earlier this week.

The earthquake struck just after 7:00pm on Monday night at a depth of about 10 kilometres below the surface.

Geoscience Australia reported the epicentre was within 10 kilometres of the Kanowna Belle goldmine, owned by Perth-based miner Northern Star Resources.
